Babak Fouladi, a former vice-president for Asia and CEE with Sweden's Ericsson's communications group, last month took over the position of chief technology officer with Vodafone Romania, a position from which he will manage the annual budget worth several tens of million euros the operator invests in the maintenance and expansion of telecom networks and IT systems.
His appointment came as Vishant Vora, the former chief technology officer with Vodafone Romania, was promoted by the British group on a similar position with the Indian subsidiary, one of the company's major operations. Vodafone has over 100 million clients in India.
Vora, who had worked in Romania for Vodafone (former Connex) since December 1999, handled some of the operator's most important projects, such as the launch of 3G data services in the 900 MHz frequency.
Vodafone's new chief technology officer filled several important positions with Ericsson, with the latest as a vice-president for Central Asia and CEE in the Multimedia and System Integration department.
